The Remsen Award does not solicit nominations from the ACS members. There is an Award committee: the appointed MD ACS chair, the Department of Chemistry Chair at Johns Hopkins University, another appointed MD ACS active member & volunteer, and one more JHU faculty member appointed by the JHU Dept Chair. The committee decides the award area based on the history of previous awards. The JHU faculty comes up with a list of three names and the committee votes on selecting one of them.
